Maison Rabelais
Private Garden
Designer: Nicholas Tomlan
Heavily inspired by the Loire River, which flows through the town of Amboise, this garden showcases several innovative techniques. In certain areas, ten centimeters of sand act as a mulch to deter weeds and provide a place to germinate seeds of perennial plants specifically chosen to thrive in this climate without additional watering. The planting is dynamic: it will change over time as plants come and go. Reseeding is encouraged and managed to guide the planting toward an equilibrium that resembles natural landscapes. The plantings were designed for high biodiversity and visual impact.
